Kenya Sisal Tote

Kenya Sisal Tote Review

Kenya Sisal Tote Feature

  • Hand crafted in Kenya, East Africa
  • Approximately 10 inches across X 10 inches deep, plus about 8 inch handles
  • Fair Trade Federation Member
  • Multipurpose Basket
You will receive a basket of similar colors to this one pictured, but please keep in mind every basket is uniquely handwoven and differs in design. Sisal is soaked and beaten to release the fibers. Then after twisting and sometimes dying, the fibers are woven into this useful shopper. The women weavers are located in a rural area full of wildlife and are often visited by people on eco-safaris. The group is part of an organization that promotes responsible tourism in Kenya. These baskets wear very well as sisal is one of the toughest natural fibers. They are shipped flat from Africa which causes some creases that will work themselves out with use. The weavers are members of the International Federation for Fair Trade.
